What is SETO?!
“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.” -Neale Donald Walsch
The Student Experimental Theater Organization
is a student ran and student funded organization that provides unique theatrical opportunities on campus for both theater and non-theater students. Every academic year SETO puts on two shows, one in the fall and one in the spring. These shows not only star some of SIUE's students, but they are also designed, directed and produced by student organization.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT:
"SETO strives to provide theatrical events and opportunities on campus to every individual student in every field of study. We seek to entertain and educate the student body with our unique focus of experimental theater, our goal to entertain and build a professional camaraderie with the students and departments on campus."
Do I have to be a Theater student to be in SETO?
In order to become a SETO member you must attend over half of the meetings during the academic school year, you must also complete a total of three tasks or partake in a committee each semester. There is also a $10 members fee for the whole year, which gives you two free tickets to each SETO production as well as a chance to vote for the shows the following year.
Why become a SETO member?
Becoming a SETO member not only gets you involved on campus, but also gives you a different perspective on all fields of the theater. It will give you a chance to jump into different kinds of experimental performances and more familiar types of theater.
Do I have to be a Theater student to be in SETO?
OF COURSE NOT! We welcome all fields of study into our organization... as long as you like theater. If you are a business major we can find a spot in box office sales. If you are an Art & Design student, you could help design posters or programs for the shows. The possibilities are endless.
